Gara impulse carbon Freediving Fin
As all carbon fiber products, the Cressi Gara Modular Impulse Carbon fins need a crafted production process. using carbon fiber composite material, which has spectacular mechanical properties (lightness together with extreme resistance and high elastic module) still today has the great limit of needing to be handcrafted.
The Gara Modular Impulse Carbon made by Cressi makes this a perfect choice for deep freediving and spearfishing for divers of all levels. The modular design lets the user replace / interchange blades for specific deep diving purposes
The carbon blade has an inserting a bending angle of 29 degrees, which allows you to further increase the dynamic performance of the fin.
The visual quality of the Cressi Gara Modular Carbon is very good, with the footpocket excellently manufactured, with bicolor rubber indicating the two hardness materials. The blade is glossy and presents some tiny areas where resin seems to be missing creating small empty spaces almost all over the surface of the blade. This aspect is dew to the special manufacturing system and the aim of utilizing the minimum quantity of resin.
Water rails are glued very well to the blades, with minor areas where some glue can be seen, while the cut of the water rails on the side of the longerons is not 100% perfect, but of course this does not influence performance at all. Matching of the footpocket to the blade is perfect. The writing of “CRESSI GARA MODULAR CARBON” is printed and covered with a last layer of resin, that protects it.
Carbon Lamination
The lamination process, meaning the positioning of the layers of carbon fiber in the molds, is the patented one utilized in the world of ultralight planes, where evidently quality and reliability are the main objective. Molds are made of glass, in vacuum and positioned inside autoclave at high pressures and controlled temperature.
The thickness of the blade is obtained utilizing sheets of carbon fiber with greater diameter of the thread, instead of using a higher number of thinner layers. Cressi in fact states that this solution reduces tensions in the final product, improving reliability and resistance in time, reducing significantly the phenomena of the enervation of the fiber. Such thickness of the thread determines the microscopic holes distributed on the surface of the blades.
Gara impulse foot pocket
New design of the flaps of the foot pocket with reduced height in order to allow the adjustment of blades of any angle, not interfere in the reactivity of the blade and allow a greater arch to the blade.
Foot pocket volume resulting from deep anatomical studies, with volumes proportional to the broadening effect caused by the socks depending on the size of the foot, does not follow a fixed size-to-size ratio, since proportionally a small foot “fattens” much more than a large one when using neoprene socks.
- Thermoplastic rubber with shore 75º hardness, flexible but inelastic and very resistant applied to the nerves, the entire sole of the foot pocket and the exclusive support band on the instep for immediate effort transmission without dissipating in rubbery compositions
- The rest of the foot pocket (grey area) maintains a semi flexible 65° shore composition for optimum comfort. This material is alternately extended in the heel area to fulfill a non-slip function when walking on a boat or on rocks
The instep incorporates in its center a band of 2 cm of width “Self-adjusting”, which allows a slight expansion (from 2 to 4 mm depending on size) to adapt to people with a high instep or in case of using thick socks. The dilation has been carefully calibrated so as not to impair the transmission of energy.
