The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course and SSI Advanced adventure course are identical in many ways both are spread over 2 days and for each, you complete 5 adventure dives, the courses are all-inclusive of Equipment and Certification. You get the best diver training and full-time supervision, and everything is included in the price, with no hidden extras.

The PADI AOW is equivalent to the SSI Advanced Adventurer each course has 5 adventure dives, and prices may vary depending on the location and learning material you choose as PADI has a premium price for learning materials and certification.

You receive a free digital C card & digital logbook available as an App on smartphones. The free SSI online e-learning integrates perfectly into the logistics of everyday life. This suits most certified divers meaning you learn at your own pace at home, online, then complete the adventure dives here with your instructor and this is at no extra cost.

Like any training course if you pre-study you are well ahead of the game on the learning curve. It is important to remember that the top globally recognized agencies are similar brands that meet the same international standards. It’s worth pointing out at this point that the Instructor for your course has the biggest influence on the quality of the courses and the divers they produce. 

With any training course, there’s no substitute for one-to-one private instruction, we don’t charge extra for this service in the Low season (May to November) You learn at your pace, and you get the Dive instructor’s full 100% attention  Each adventure dives you complete will also be credited toward the first dive of the corresponding Specialty Diver course.

Advanced certification:

SSI and PADI are global leaders in the diving industry for the last 50 years, when it comes to Dive course materials and diver certification there are simply no 2 other agencies that come anywhere near to certifying divers worldwide. It’s irrelevant what course reading materials you choose as both brands are similar in many ways each conforms to the international standards for advanced diving education  ISO 24803:2017.

This higher certification level allows you to dive down to 30 meters (100 feet) providing you complete the deep adventure dive.

The 2 largest agencies have been around since 1969 and 1970, respectively, and have high-quality teaching materials and high standards. Both brands are certified by the WRSTC (World Recreational Scuba Training Council) and the ISO/EUF (International Standards Organisation/European Underwater Federation). The knowledge and skill requirements are almost identical which means certifications are equivalent, interchangeable, and recognized globally. The PADI Brand will require that you must purchase a manual whereas SSI provides this for free for 6 months as a digital library loan with the option to buy if you want.

If signing up for the PADI Advanced Open Water course, you will receive the Adventure in the diving hard paper manual.
While each chapter documents a specific aspect or type of dive it is important to read them all to understand and appreciate all the course skills.
You can choose 5 exciting adventure dives from the Manual and listen to a dive briefing by the instructor who will review the Adventure Dive objectives and performance requirements while giving you an overview of the dive site and what marine life is common to the area. You log each dive in the paper logbook

Course prices reflect the locations of dive sites and traveling times. An additional charge may apply to locations outside of the Patong, Kata, and Karon areas, so please ask…

Not included is a Digital camera rental for the digital underwater photography adventure dive  –  you have the option of renting for 2000 thb or taking your own on the dives

Advanced & Advanced adventure course schedule.

DAY 1

You will be met by a member of your  Instructor who will be with you for the full duration of your course. When on the dive boat the instructor will go over the details of the mandatory underwater navigation adventure dive that will boost your confidence of finding your way around underwater even in bad visibility, its easy when you know how to use your compass, measure longer distances using elapsed dive time using a dive computer, or cover shorter distances using kick cycles to navigate like a pro.

• Koh Doc Mai
• Shark Point
• King Cruiser Wreck
• Phi Phi Island

Day 2

Dive 2 of the day will be based on your choice from the Adventure dives, you may want to work on Buoyancy skills. The remaining Adventure dives can be any of the following, check out the local wrecks around Phuket, get to grips with a diver propulsion vehicle ( DPV), try your hand at Underwater Photography, fly over a reef on a Drift dive adventure, experience using Nitrox enriched air and much more.

Prior to registration for the diver course, You must be an Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization) and 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver) Participants under 16 years must be accompanied on the course by a parent or legal guardian at all times while underwater, or on land or Boat.

DAY 2

Your first Adventure dive today will be the mandatory Deep Adventure dive you and your instructor will review the practice objectives, go over the planning and organizing needed for Deep Dives, along with special skills, procedures, and how to avoid hazards at depth, the supervised experience of diving is between depths of 22m – 30m. You will also complete 2 other Adventure dives from the Advanced open water diver Manual.

Night Diving is also available at Kata Beach as part of the Advanced diver Training.
